SwiftCause

Data rights and requests

How to ask SwiftCause or a participating charity about your personal data.

Version v1.0 · Last updated 12 September 2026

Who handles your request

The charity operating a campaign will often be the controller for donor, Gift Aid, and campaign data. SwiftCause may act as its processor. SwiftCause may be the controller for its own account, support, security, billing, and direct marketing records. We will identify the relevant organisation and coordinate where responsibilities overlap.

Rights you may have

Depending on the purpose and legal basis, you may ask for access to your personal data and information about its use, correction of inaccurate data, erasure, restriction, portability, or object to processing. You can withdraw consent for a consent-based purpose, including optional marketing or analytics, without affecting processing that has another lawful basis.

Some records may need to be retained for Gift Aid, tax, accounting, fraud prevention, legal claims, or other statutory reasons. In those cases we will explain the restriction, suppression, or anonymisation applied instead of immediate erasure where the law allows or requires it.

How to make a request

Email connect@swiftcause.com with “Data protection request” in the subject line. Include the organisation or campaign involved, the email address or other identifier used, the right you want to exercise, and any helpful date or transaction reference. Do not send payment-card numbers or unnecessary sensitive information.

We may ask for proportionate information to verify identity and locate the correct records. Requests may require manual review, coordination with the charity controller, or a legal hold check. We will respond within the applicable legal time limit or explain why more time or information is needed.

Consent withdrawal and marketing

Use the relevant preference control where one is provided, or contact us to withdraw optional marketing, analytics, or another consent. Withdrawal does not automatically erase historical records that must be retained, and it does not cancel a payment or Gift Aid declaration unless the relevant controller confirms the legal and operational effect.

Complaints and version

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/. Contact connect@swiftcause.com for assistance.
